Meelan Lah Request by blue-but-beautiful Meelan Lah Request by blue-but-beautiful
This is a finished request for :iconerikmodi: of his Yuuzhan Vong OC, Meelan Lah, who as I understand was once shamed (hence no tattoo's or implants) and has completely healed following said rejections.

YV and all things SW belong to the big George L, the character to :iconerikmodi: and the art me.

The large gap to one side has been left relatively spotless for the addition of possible text, I just wanted to post the blank version before hand as I rather liked it :)

Danke :D she took a little while, this was using some ideas I hadn't used prior to this, seemed to work out well and ErikModi was pleased :)

I can tell. I just love the color scheme, did you pant this by hand? ;)

Yes I suppose I did, the lines were all hand drawn, the colouring by hand but using a tablet and stylus in conjunction with painter X

Awesome. I love your stylization; the way you do skin is so interesting.
btw, why the obsession with Yuuzhan Vong? I thought they were pretty sweet too, i'm just wondering. :)

Thanks :D I always shade skin using the colouring in white method, it's done in 3-4 layers with a lot of blender usage in between!
Why Yuuzhan Vong? Well, quite a few reasons, from the moment I read about Yomin Carr in VP I was literally hooked by how different the NJO series was going to be - I avoided it for about a year on account of Chewies death, but finally swallowed my pride and read. The YV were such a breath of fresh air to SW, and completely different to boot, their culture was fascinating to me, incorporating a lot of aspects of ancient cultures I had been fascinated with as a kid/teen. It also combined my fave fandom of all time, SW, and I just loved the way that writers like Stover, Denning and Keyes wrote them, they were very interesting. :)
I could go on, but I didn't wanna write you an essay lol.

heh, yeah I totally get what you mean about them being like a breath of fresh air. usually I'm not into the violent bad guys, but I love the implants they have! So intense! I wish i had a weird starfish thing to be my second hand or plant like growths in my ear.

Oh completely, I have always had a tendancy to like the dark and evil characters, especially those that were portrayed as people rather than just mindless villains. But the whole body art side of things was interesting on a personal level, I am forever adding things to myself, be that the 20 back piercings or the front corsetting I had done, to the crazy hair I have presently and I even gave consent to have my ear reshaped when I was six - though that was medical rather than cosmetic. I do also have a small piece of scarrification that interlinks with a tribal tattoo on my thigh, figured if I got it there, I could hide it when everything goes south aged 50 XD

That's so cool! How do the corset laces lace up? Are they one's on the sides of your stomach and that wrap around your back? (Like this? [link]) I've never seen corset piercings in real life.
I find people that are sort of innocent looking to be very attractive so thus far i have been to scared to get any piercings/ body art. I've been thinking about it though.

Ooh that's one I haven't seen before, don't give me ideas LOL, I will be getting married in the near future and need to be somewhat piercing free for that  something about body rings not looking good in photos that the parents wanna keep for a lifetime *whistles innocently*
Mine aren't the wrap around kind, it's literally two rows of sprung rings, either side of my spine with a ribbon running through them like a corset back. The same goes for my chest, cept those ones are between my breasts.

Tsavong Lah would have a hard time topping that outfit. Elmira would wonder how aerodynamic it was. Green IS in, as is the mohawk. I see she has yet to have any tattoos of rank.

She is a shamed one who later became a warrior - I think, not sure of the exact details, but that is why she has no tattoo's of rank.
And yus, green is in this year hehe, mohawks for the win! :D

I always have a definite direction I want to go when I start sketching out something like this, can always seem to see how it SHOULD look like in the end. Of course it doesn't always end up like that  but this seems to have done the trick :D
Thanks very much!

lol oh don't worry, I thought of that, but I really liked her outfit and was kind of glad that the recipient seemed to as well.
I may do an alternative version with more armoury armour

And thankyou, yes the background needed to be simplistic this time around, details details details were beginning to make me tear my hair out. Plus it's just a concept/character sheet, made sense to keep it simple :)

As for the hair, I recently considered giving myself a mohawk again, decided as it was winter i'd stick to my drawings :XD:

had the same thing happen to the entire science wing {kinda}--the heating/ac system went bonkers; trying to heat up one room would make another colder.
but it was cold all around, inside and out, so i'd trade a strap for a scarf.

hard to concentrate when you're shivvering
