"Shimrra was Shimrra. I am I." - Onimi

Onimi, the bitter ex shaper of the Yuuzhan Vong, who's heretical attempts at self escalation left him with a lot more than he bargained for. Shamed as he is, he's the familiar of Supreme Overlord Shimrra, but is it really Shimrra who pulls all the strings???


This was a long time in coming, but i've finally ironed out all the kinks I saw, may add to this in time and/or join it with the piece I painted about Shimrra.

Line Art can be found in scraps.

Actually, I always imagined Smeagol when I thought of him, just more meat on him, more deformed, so yes in a sense I did :)

I always imagined Onimi as a sort of Vong Gollum, so this is perfect to me. Every other drawing of him overlooks the shamed aspect and basically focuses on the last chapters of the last book. I was pleased to see this. :)

Thanks, and I agree. He was always discribed as this twisted, gnarled and failed being, that generally had a gollum-esque tone to him, a skulking thing that hid in the shadow of his masters, that sort of thing. It was a mild surprise - his ending.
This is another i'd like to redo at some point, i'm revisiting old work :)

He does yep, read TUF a few years ago myself, but even he couldn't hold onto Shimrra indefinitely, hence his going slowly mad over time...rather like Onimi himself. Still, would have preferred him to be elaborated on.

Yes good point, though who better to send than an ex shaper? Not only was he the least obvious choice, he knew the trade well and in shimmra's twisted mind, he was one of the few he could trust to keep the whole 'no eighth cortex' thing between himself, Onimi and Nen Yim ( who would have obviously have had the Commander Val treatment if she had failed to comply.)

Onimi's easily one of the worst. He causes the death of trillions, wrecks the galaxy, and causes Chewies death for godhood. I felt like cheering when Jacen defeated him.

Each to their own, personally, I think they should have spent a bit more time on delving into his character, he was clearly highly complex (not to mention a little bit mad) to have orchestrated such a grand deception. I remember having my suspicions about him from Destiny's way, the scene at the end should have been elaborated on, it was chilling.
He's certainly one of the worst as you say, though I mean that in a good sense of character - what a deception!
